Crystal Castles
Crystal Castles have produced the work of the Resistance fighting with Atari joysticks and 8-bit subterfuge. The sound of a new-wave of Luditte frustrations being thrashed out to the emotions felt at computers crashing and an internet dialling tone grinding up against the back of a Dot Matrix printer being assassinated.
Canada has posted many an indie-musical delight in the past few years – Celine Dion: return to sender – but none more delightfully embracing the likes of MS-DOS, Le Tigre and the Game Boy as influences. Computer gaming aurally savaged and happily received through a wireless connection.

Laura Marling
A bonfire setting would be the only humble surroundings that could accompany the delights of the English Rose that is Laura Marling at a festival this year.
Effortlessly buoyant Nick Drake-esque guitar amounted with an unassuming innocence and wistfully honest vocal. These are the songs of a forlorn and earnest soul penned down with great delicacy and maturity, yet still played with a shy and reticent romance leaving one spellbound.

Friends of the Bride
Friends of the Bride’s quintessential blend of big band backing and American white-boy rock and roll are sure to set the festival footwear of your choice swinging and movements crooning around a tent this summer.
Friends of the Bride are the rubber soles on Creepers, the press in plaid trousers, the sound of a much loved worn-out record needle; they are not just some dressed up spurious fad: they are the rockabilly deal. Think Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps roller-skating with Frank Sinatra – it’s hip to be cool.

Fenech-Soler
The idea of French-electro screams pretension, however, Fenech-Soler are anything but. Tracks scream with euphoric waves of layered beeps and chemically engineered bleeps.
New-wave tents will be left sweating to an esoteric sight of glow sticks and sunglasses sound when these three unknowns land in a haze of wide-eyed joy near you this festival season.

Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong
In all their sartorial splendour Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong will surely be ones to watch this summer. With their tailoring cut as fine as their razor-sharp pop discography to date, their soon to be imminent face of the NME youth culture label will be worn like an ASBO badge of honour. The kids aren’t alright, but very desirable and contemporary.
