There is a fine line between cool and arrogance, and after seeing them live, jealousy is an ugly thing to behold. Undeniably talented and genuine scholars of their art, I have to say I hate them with the utmost respect. Signing a major record deal is one thing, but when you are effortlessly cool and hail from Lincoln (!) it’s another. Not known for being a town at the forefront of groundbreaking rock and roll acts, the 22-20s seems to be the anomaly in this equation. Injecting undeniably riotous baseline garage rock with 60s blues influences such as Skip James, Rolling Stones and Muddy Waters makes this one of the dirtiest sounds around at the moment. Similar to the live EP release last year, elements of this passionately raucous 10 track record sound like its been dragged through a hedge backwards, but if it sounded any other way it just wouldn’t be the same. Buy the hype before everyone else does.
